The Whitefield Library has been operating out of Whitefield’s historic Arlington Hall since 2017. This location has been ideal as the hall is centrally located and a widely recognized bright yellow building atop Whitefield’s tallest hill. It is also within short reach of Whitefield Elementary School and the Town Office.
After successfully reaching our goal to purchase the hall, we raised funds and have strategically restored the entire structure (interior and exterior) to fulfill its original mission to serve its community. Just as the builders intended in 1884 (“…the lower story will be used for a free library…”), we are utilizing the first floor as a fully functioning community library and the second floor to accommodate our community library outreach services such as our children and adult programs and an ever-evolving agenda of educational and entertaining events. With much appreciation to all of our generous financial supporters and amazing volunteers and contractors, this lovely building will find value as a center of connection, creativity, learning, and opportunity once again.
May 17, 2019 Whitefield Arlington Grange officially was sold to Whitefield Library Association and in November the first building renovation project began.
